The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Chinese-foreign university to open in China. This award-winning campus offering a British-style education has grown from its inception in 2004 to a student body of 8,000 students.
The University of Nottingham Ningbo, China, a pioneer of Sino-foreign higher education, is developing rapidly. UNNC is part of the Global University at the University of Nottingham and offers unique teaching and research opportunities in a very dynamic economy.
The UNNC School of Economics offers a BSc International Economics and Trade and a BSc Economics, along with an MSc Finance and Investment (Economics, Money and Finance) and a Ph.D. in Economics. It currently comprises 22 full-time staff members and one part-time professor with four additional positions to be filled for the coming academic year. The student body is 854 and is looking to grow at the postgraduate level. Last year, 87% of our undergraduate students went on to study at recognized universities in English-speaking countries. All programs match well-established programs run in the UK and benefit from shared resources with our campuses in the UK and Malaysia. Administratively, the school is part of the Nottingham UK School of Economics, which is ranked fifth for research in the UK by Tilburg University’s World Ranking of Schools of Economics and 38th in the world.
The successful candidate is expected to teach at undergraduate and possibly postgraduate levels. Applicants with research and teaching interests in any area of economics are encouraged to apply, although it is desirable to meet one or more of the areas in which the School has a need. teaching or research. Current educational needs include labor economics, development economics, financial economics, and quantitative economics. The School has three research centers: Globalization and Economic Policy, the Center for Health Economics, and the Center for Research on Decision and Experimental Economics. The successful candidate will contribute to developments that will enhance the reputation of the School as a recognized center of excellence in research and teaching. He or she will be expected to conduct innovative research leading to publications in leading economic journals on a sustained basis; to provide high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education and to assist in the administration of the school.
Applicants should hold a PhD in economics or a closely related discipline. Excellence in research, supported by a publication record commensurate with the level of the post, is required. Excellence in teaching, including strong communication and presentation skills in English, is essential.
The successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that can be extended by mutual agreement.
