The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Business and Economics is looking for a full-time employee holder of a doctoral scholarship in the field of economics focusing on consumer demand and/or labor supply with social comparisons.

  • You will actively work on the preparation and defense of a doctorate. thesis in the field of economics within the framework of a research project funded by the Research Board of the University of Antwerp, with Prof. dr. Sam Cosaert as Promoter.

The research project incorporates social comparisons into advanced labor supply models. Individuals care not only about income per se, but also about what they earn relative to others. • You will actively participate in the research activities of the Department of Economics.
  • You will perform a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the Department of Economics.

  • You hold a Master’s degree in economics or social economics, or in related fields.
  • You have a strong track record of study results.
  • Your teaching skills are in line with the educational vision of the University of Antwerp.
  • Your research qualities are part of the faculty and university research policy.
  • You act with concern for quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You have excellent study results for microeconomics courses, you have strong quantitative skills (statistics or linear programming) and you are interested in aspects of behavioral economics (with knowledge of psychology and sociology) .
