UVAS signs MoU with University of Home Economics to promote cooperation in education and research


University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and University of Home Economics (UHE) Lahore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in education and research.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (SI), Director of Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) Dr Ferhan Jamil of UVAS while Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen and Director Deputy (ORIC) Mr. Tariq Aziz of the University of Home Economics (UHE) signed the MoU during a ceremony held here at City Campus on Tuesday. The Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences, Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani and a number of senior UVAS faculty members and UHE officials were present at the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Nasim Ahmad said that this cooperation will be very beneficial for both institutions, especially for learning/exchanging experiences, innovative knowledge, new ideas and practical skills. . He also briefed the UHE delegation on the university’s academic, research & state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen said that for the betterment of the institution, it is absolutely necessary to work on the development of the faculty for building their capacity. She talked about the publication, research areas, interest and goals for the development of UHE.

She also requested help from UVAS in developing and upgrading UHE labs. She also emphasized the need to include faculty impact in generating funding in the form of research projects rather than number of publications. Later, the UHE delegation visited the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and the UVAS Veterinary Academy. University of Home Economics, Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions have agreed to collaborate on joint research projects in the areas of human nutrition, information technology, and research. UVAS will provide technical assistance to UHE to strengthen its research, innovation and commercialization activities. They will jointly organize conferences, seminars & symposia and exchanges of faculty members for research, lectures and discussions. They will share their laboratory, research facilities and equipment. The two institutions will develop research proposals and conduct joint research and development projects. Information about mutual workshops, symposia and conferences will be shared with students and faculty from both institutions.
